Working as Prime Contractor for the FAA, Ahtna is providing all design and construction services to repair and restore the existing deteriorated seawall located at the Mission Bay VOR Island in San Diego, California. The Ahtna team will mobilize the team’s floating crane barge, key materials, and support equipment from a waterfront facility in San Diego Bay to Mission Bay.  To complete the erosion repairs, the team will provide extensive permitting; staging at a nearby island; design (design data handbook, 50%, 90%, 100, IFC, and as-built drawings); erosion control measures; site clearing; stockpiling of material for future use; and placement of sandy backfill material, geotechnical filter fabric, underlayer stone materials, armor stone, and larger stones at the toe to mitigate potential future toe scouring over time. Ahtna will perform all work in October to March to avoid the Least Tern nesting season.
